Take on the challenge and experience an unforgettable event at the Nakamura Cup 2025! We look forward to welcoming you to a high-level competition that combines prestige, tradition, discipline, and the spirit of karate. Get ready for an exceptional experience on the tatami.
Date and place
The event will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Pierre-Charbonneau Center, located at 3000 Viau Street in Montreal.
The competition will begin at 9 a.m.
All competitors must arrive by 8:30 a.m.
Who can participate?
The competition is open to beginners, both children and adults, as well as to elite participants.
Different categories offered
Registration can be done for katas only, for fights only, or, for those seeking the ultimate challenge, for both katas and fights.
Katas and fights include three categories: Open, Elite, and Master.
Kata :
- Open : children, white to black belt. Adults: white to brown belt. Groups will be mixed, organized according to belt level and the competitors’ age.
- Elite : experienced competitor aged 18 and over, black belt.
- Master : karateka aged 35 and over, black belt.

Fighting :
- Open : karateka, children and adults, white to black belt. The sparring is semi-contact, meaning all strikes to the head must be controlled, with protective gear. Groups will be separated by gender and organized according to belt level and the competitors’ age.
- Elite : experienced fighter aged 18 and over, any belt level. The sparring is full-contact without protective gear. Groups will be separated by gender and organized by weight category.
- Master : experienced fighter aged 35 and over, black belt. The sparring is full-contact with protective gear. Groups will be separated by gender and organized by weight category.

Weight categories for Elite and Master fights
Male
Light: 70 kg (155 lb) and under
Middle: 80 kg (176 lb) and under
Heavy: 80 kg (176 lb) and over
Female
Light: 55 kg (121 lb) and under
Middle: 65 kg (143 lb) and under
Heavy: 65 kg (143 lb) and over
Registration
Register online now. The registration deadline is November 1st.
Registration fees
- $75 for participants under 18*
- $85 for adults*
*Regardless of the category (Open, Elite, or Master). Same price for registration in 1 or 2 events.
Spectator
Spectator tickets will be sold on the morning of the event, cash only.
- $20 for adults
- $15 for children
- Free for children 5 years and under
